As a general surgeon, Dr. Patel works closely with patients and their physician to diagnose and provide timely surgical treatment for conditions involving hernias, soft tissue and breast, and the digestive system (esophagus, stomach, gallbladder, small intestine, and colon/rectum).
Bio for Shinal Patel, M.D.
Dr. Patel grew up in San Jose and came to the Midwest for school and training. Her family still lives in California, but after establishing roots and relationships in Mid-Missouri, she made this her permanent home. She enjoys spending time outdoors with activities like hiking, snowboarding and competitive soccer.
Dr. Shinal Patel’s passion for medicine started when she discovered how much she enjoyed using both anatomy and physiology to create wellness plans for her patients.
Her vision for JCMG is to serve and treat patients in the same approachable and relatable style of care she’d want for herself and her family.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and minored in Neuroscience at Loyola University. Then she went on to earn her Doctor of Medicine from St. Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Patel completed her General Surgery Residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Patel is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery and Fundamentals of Endoscopic Surgery. She served on various educational committees, continues to be a researcher and presenter in her specialties.
