Bret was born and raised in Jefferson City, where he attended Helias Catholic High School and met his wife, Meghan. He attended Truman State University where he majored in exercise science and played college baseball. While in college, Bret suffered a shoulder injury which required surgery—this is where he first encountered a PA working with the surgeon who operated on his shoulder. From that time on, he knew a career as an Orthopaedic PA would be a great fit.

After college, Bret worked as an EMT on the ambulance to gain patient care experience. He continued his education at UMKC, attending their PA school. After graduating, he worked as an Orthopaedic PA in Kansas City before moving back home to Jefferson City.

In his free time, Bret enjoys being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and going on float trips. He stays active by playing in rec softball, volleyball and basketball leagues. Bret and his wife are excited to be back home in Jefferson City, where they are renovating his grandparents’ old house and plan to raise their family.
