Dr. Imran Ashraf Joins JCMG Gastroenterology

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – JCMG is pleased to welcome gastroenterologist, Imran Ashraf, M.D.

Dr. Imran Ashraf recently completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Missouri – Columbia and Harry S. Truman Veterans’ Hospital, where he also completed his residency. He received his medical degree from the University of Peshawar in Pakistan.

While growing up, Dr. Ashraf witnessed a great deal of liver and gastrointestinal disease taking place throughout his country and decided that he wanted to help do something about it when he was older. Thus, he’s an advocate for colon screening. “Many people put off their colonoscopy out of fear – fear of the prep and/or the procedure. I tell them that it is not as bad as you think. The prep is the toughest part. The procedure itself usually takes 15 minutes,” says Dr. Ashraf. “Colonoscopies are a powerful tool in the detection and prevention of colon cancer. It’s truly an amazing feeling to be able to remove precancerous polyps, eliminate the threat of cancer and save lives.”

In addition to colon screening, he diagnoses and treats diseases of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, gall bladder, and pancreas. Conditions include ulcers, hepatitis, GERD, Crohn’s disease, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and abdominal pain.      Dr. Ashraf joins Jason Dundulis, M.D., Sara Echelmeyer, M.D., Richard Jennett, M.D., Joseph Wang, M.D., Michael Lehmkuhl, AGPCNP-BC, and Michelle Nolph, RN, MSN, ANP-BC , in JCMG Gastroenterology. He and his partners see patients at both local hospitals, Capital Region Medical Center and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Ashraf, please call (573)635-JCMG (5264).
