Jefferson City, Mo. — Jefferson City Medical Group (JCMG) proudly announces that the JCMG Surgery Center has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers for Orthopedics and Spine. As one of only two Missouri facilities to earn this prestigious distinction, the honor underscores JCMG’s leadership in delivering advanced, patient-centered outpatient surgical care.
In developing the 2026 ratings, U.S. News analyzed data from 4,421 ambulatory surgery centers nationwide, recognizing only 21 percent of those facilities as Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers after meeting strict criteria for patient safety and outcomes.
The JCMG Surgery Center was recognized for excellence in outpatient orthopedics and spine care based on high performance across key quality indicators including procedure volume, length of stay, complication rates, unplanned ER visits, patient outcomes, and unplanned hospital admissions.

JCMG began offering outpatient surgery to patients in 1998. In 2022, the new 28,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility on Edgewood Drive was opened to elevate the outpatient surgical experience through efficiency, comfort, and exceptional clinical results. The center features four operating rooms, three procedure rooms, 12 pre-operative suites, 14 post-operative suites, two extended-care rooms, and fully covered patient drop-off and pick-up areas. Multiple JCMG specialties utilize the center, united by a commitment to providing affordable, high-quality surgical care. In addition to orthopedics and spine, the surgery center also supports procedures from ENT, gastroenterology, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology, pain management, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and podiatry.
JCMG Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine physicians perform a wide range of procedures at the center, including outpatient hip, knee, and shoulder replacements. As one of the region’s earliest adopters of outpatient joint replacement, JCMG’s orthopedic physicians have pioneered a program that allows patients in mid‑Missouri to receive advanced joint care, while returning to the comfort of their own homes the very same day. The addition of spine surgeon Dr. John Worley in 2024 further expanded JCMG’s capabilities, bringing advanced outpatient spine surgery to the community and strengthening JCMG’s role as a leader in comprehensive orthopedic care.
