Express Care is designed to treat minor, non-life-threatening conditions that can’t wait for an appointment with your doctor. If you experience a major injury or emergent health concern, please seek care at the nearest emergency room immediately. So, what counts as a “major” versus a “minor” injury or illness? We’ve compiled a helpful guide below to help you decide where to go for care. Minor Injuries and Illnesses – Best for Express Care

• Cold, flu, sore throat
• Ear infections
• Sprains and strains
• Mild allergic reactions
• Mild GI upset
• Minor cuts needing stitches
• Basic diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and labs, as ordered by EC provider

Major Injuries and Emergencies – Go to the ER

• Chest pain or signs of a heart attack
• Stroke symptoms such as facial droop or slurred speech
• Severe trauma or uncontrolled bleeding
• Difficulty breathing
• Head injuries or loss of consciousness
• Severe abdominal distress
• Uncontrolled vomiting or signs of severe dehydration
