Nose Job/Nose Shaping (Rhinoplasty)

The nose and eyes are the most noticeable parts of the face. Rhinoplasty is a special area of interest and expertise for Dr. Steffen. Many factors influence what people perceive in an attractive nose. Some are bothered by the hump on their nose. Others feel that the tip their nose is too big, too boxy, or too masculine. Some patients have had trauma leading to a crooked nose or a deviated septum. This can even lead to problems breathing.

We take an individualized approach to rhinoplasty. We identify the specific concerns of the patient and present the surgical options to address those concerns. Not every patient is a candidate for rhinoplasty. We take great joy in the change rhinoplasty can bring to a patient both regarding improved breathing and appearance. Most of our rhinoplasties are “open” and address concerns of the dorsum, nasal bones, and tip using the latest techniques of osteotomies, cartilage grafting, tip sutures, etc. We splint for the first 1 – 2 weeks after surgery which is the time in which most of the recovery occurs. This is a wonderful operation for the well-informed patient who is seeking the sort of transformation that rhinoplasty can bring.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons considers this a cosmetic procedure, and it is not covered by insurance. However, insurance may step in to cover portions of the case when performed to improve nasal breathing.

If you have interest in this procedure, ask about a consultation. We can talk about what would work best for your goals.
