MISSOURI MEDICAL GROUP TO OFFER NEW PRIMARY CARE OPTION IN COLUMBIA
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri Medical Group will launch its first primary care practice in Columbia on September 1, 2019 with the addition of Family Medicine physician Heather Gessling, M.D.
Dr. Gessling completed her training and residency at the University of Missouri and has been practicing for the past 10 years with Moberly Regional Medical Center. Dr. Gessling will care for patients of all ages.
“Keeping Columbia families healthy, happy and productive is my main goal,” says Dr. Gessling. “This community is strong and continues to grow. Primary care needs have increased in Columbia, and I plan to provide accessible care for Columbia that is comprehensive and excellent. Columbia deserves it.”
Missouri Medical Group’s launch of a family practice in Columbia comes at a time of need for primary care in both rural and metropolitan areas across the state. A 2017 study by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services demonstrated a primary care shortage in Boone County. And among existing primary care providers, independent family doctors are especially scarce in Columbia. Independent, private practice medicine offers consumers a more affordable option for care than hospital-owned health networks.
Dr. Gessling’s practice will be located at 525 N. Keene Street, Suite 301 alongside the Neurology Institute (formerly Neurology Inc.). In addition to providing Neurology and Family Medicine specialty services, Missouri Medical Group also offers lab and IV infusion services.
