JCMG Awards $4,000 in Health Sciences Scholarships to Area Students

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Jefferson City Medical Group is pleased to announce that five area students, pursuing nursing or pre-medicine degrees, were recently awarded scholarships by the group. The JCMG Health Sciences Scholarships were established in 2009 because of the increasing demand for physicians and nurses due to the aging population and increase in life expectancy. Since that time, the group has invested $32,000 in the medical education of area students.

This year’s winners include:

Daniel Gernander, son of Erik and Emily Gernander, Jefferson City, is a recent graduate of Jefferson City High School. He will major in chemistry (pre-medicine) at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.

Whitney Hake, daughter of Brad and Christy Hake, Jefferson City, is a recent graduate of Helias Catholic High School. She will major in biochemistry (pre-medicine) at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Mo.

Kyle Schulte, son of Christopher and Theresa Schulte, Jefferson City, is a recent graduate of Blair Oaks High School. He will major in biomedical engineering (pre-medicine) at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.

Amanda Myers, Henley, is a nursing student at Lincoln University. She is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

All scholarship winners reside within the JCMG service area. JCMG is very interested in encouraging students to work in the healthcare field and hope that they will return to their hometown after they receive their medical education.
