In Jefferson City, visitors will not want to miss touring the Roman Renaissance-style capitol building and the Missouri State Museum. It was ranked the "Most Beautiful Capitol on the Inside" in a 2008 issue of USA Today. The house lounge, featuring a Missouri heritage-inspired mural by painter Thomas Hart Benton, is a highlight of the daily tours. The three point perspective paintings scattered along the walls is also very popular with visitors. The Governor's Mansion is a beautiful example of Second Empire architecture and offers tours.
The Lake of the Ozarks offers fantastic scenery and outdoor adventure. Besides swimming, boating, water-skiing and fishing, you can explore area caves, play a around of golf at one of its numerous top-ranked golf courses or spend the day browsing at a wide variety of shops and galleries. The lakes offer bass, crappie, catfish and walleye.
Missouri operates 85 State Parks and State Historic Sites encompassing 200,000 acres; 1,500 structures; 3,700 campsites; 194 cabins; 2,000 picnic sites. There are 840 miles of trail for hikers, backpackers, bicycle riders, off-road vehicle users and horseback riders, including the 225-mile long Katy Trail, which is the longest developed rail-to-trail facility in the United States. Added in 2011, the Missouri River Pedestrian/ Bike Bridge allows safe access over the Missouri River from the Katy Trail to downtown Jefferson City. Jefferson City is home to many live theater experiences, including a dinner theater and Christian theater group as well as arts and musical groups. The city's cultural arts commission maintains a list of all of the arts opportunities in the area. Various festivals and multicultural events enhance the quality of life in the community. There are even more arts activites to enjoy with nine colleges and universities within 30 minutes of Jefferson City.
We are conveniently located within minutes of NCAA Division 1 athletics at the University of Missouri. Multiple professional sporting teams are in close proximity. Within an easy two hour drive are the professional teams in St. Louis: Cardinals, Blues and Rams; as well as the Kansas City: Chiefs and Royals.
